Organizing Your Favorites (Bookmarks) List,

For    "Dummies"

We've all been there - this knowledge didn't just happen to fall into our heads accidentally!

Like most people, I've had to learn many things from the school of hard knocks ...

Not necessarily the easiest way, but often the only way.

Have You Ever Tried To Find A

Favorite (Bookmark)

That You Saved A Long Time Ago?

Well, if you're like some people I know, you'll be looking forever!

I was looking at my friend's Favorite (Bookmark) list a couple of days ago, and it consisted of one (1) long, streaming list of names that were unrelated, and totally disorganized!  I asked him how he located addressess of particular web sites, and he said, "I just scroll down through the list until I find it."  He didn't have any Folders.

You can save yourself a lot of time by organizing your Favorites ...

1}     Create a folder for yourself

2}     Create Sub-Folders under the folder for yourself, for different categories of web                   sites

3}     In the Sub-Folders, create additional Sub-Folders, to isolate special Favorites ...

4}     When you "Add To Favorites" from your Menu Line, specify which folder you                 want to put it in - very simple and painless.

If you are like me, you have a lot of Favorites (Bookmarks).  I still have trouble, sometimes,  locating web sites, products, or "How To" web sites that I saved, thinking to myself, "I'll be able to remember where I put this."  Needless to say, if your list is long, it won't be an easy task.  For one thing, the name of the Favorite (Bookmark) will be what the author designed it as, and you may not recognize it when you're looking for it.  To fix this, just "Rename" the Favorite (Bookmark) to something you will recognize ... every time you save something in your Favorites (Bookmarks).

Here's a sample of some of my folders, starting with My individual folder:

            Main Folder:  Dan

                    Sub-Folder:  Mustang Sites

                           Sub- Folder:  Vendors and Manufacturers

                           Sub-Folder:  Specific Items Of Interest

                           Sub-Folder:  Cobra Owner Web Sites

                           Sub-Folder:  DIY Articles

As you can see, it should be easy to locate any particular category, product, or "bit" of saved informaton.   You can make your list as complicated or precise as you wish ... Sub-Folders can be added to any Folder or Sub-Folder.  If you find that you have an address entered two times, in different locations, delete the improper one!  You can "Drag and Drop" items on the Favorites (Bookmarks) List, into the Sub-Folder you want it to be it.

I am constantly updating my Favorite (Bookmark) list, and relocating items from one folder to another.

Believe me, you'll thank yourself for organizing your "Favorites (Bookmarks)"

I've been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, and wore it out ...

Good luck,  dan
